R.I.P., Mr. Rickles. You will be remembered by the laughter you create and that's a pretty good way to be remembered...
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

I remember CPO Sharkey, and watching him on roasts. RIP Don.

Man he was the best. Any chance I got to watch him I would. He was a class act and no one did his kinda comedy better than he did. I knew he'd been weaker for awhile because when he'd do talk shows they would introduce him and he would already be sitting there. It's always made me a little sad to see that, but I was always so glad he still was out there doing it. Of course then he'd start talking and there'd just be joy and much laughter. He always gave those great gifts. What Jimmy Kimmel said on his show was so touching. I had no idea they were such great friends. Got me crying along with Jimmy. I highly recommend checking it out. I'm sure it's on the interwebs by now.

He was great on The Andy Griffith Show as Newton Monroe.

It was through a Don Rickles interview years ago where I first learned of the "Borscht Belt"

Toured the area a few years ago and just about nothing remains except some vacant buildings -- a shame

A constant guest-star on many TV shows I watched growing up. I always think of his Gilligan appearance first in that regard. As others have said, no one did his brand of humor better than him. And he still had it in his 90s!

He had a great run, but the world is far less funny without him.

Oh, and I loved those Jimmy Olsen issues too. How nuts was THAT?!?

Sorry to hear this, he was a great comedian and made many tv show guest appearances.

I wonder how he would have faired as a 66 Batman series villain?

If there is a Mt. Rushmore of comedy, Rickels is on it.

I love the story Sinatra told about seeing him in a restaurant and asking Ol' Blue Eyes for a little help with a lady.
They just showed that episode of Carson on antenna TV. Definitely very funny. He grabbed Sinatra and kissed him. Frank pushed him off and glances at Johnny, and Don does it again. They didn't even introduce him he just came on out. Hilarious.

It seems they didn't get him to record his voice for Toy Story 4.
