It's too bad about the move, Oakland can't budget a new place so the Raiders could stay? I thought they got sell out crowds for the home games?, plus the team is improving? it would be interesting if this team makes a Super Bowl appearance before leaving.
The move is in 2019, I hope the fans stop going just for spite, now Vegas has football and hockey, suprised they don't have
an NBA team, maybe that wil be next?

I'll still follow them as Las Vegas Raiders...as I've gotten "close" to the players...and Derick Carr is not only an excellent quarterback, but a really nice guy too. And if Beast Mode does decide to unretire...and join them, watch out, here comes the Silver & Black...Leave a comment:

Well, Hector, looks like your "Good Bye" thread can now double as a farewell to the Raiders in Oakland.
As a 40-year Raiders fan located on the east coast, it still bums me out that they're leaving Oakland for a second time. They really do need a new football-only stadium, though, as the only NFL team to still play in an outdated multi-purpose facility.Leave a comment:

Oh, BTW, I walked another 8 miles this past Saturday.
I'd probably do it once a week from now on...and the rest will be 6 mile walks...Leave a comment:

Well, that puts my mind at ease and soothes the callouses on my psyche.

Wow!!!! The scenery in the forest is simply awesome, some of it almost primordial! I could easily imagine some of that stuff being there when the dinosaurs roamed around. Looks like it would be a great place to film a low budget KONG movie!Leave a comment:

But if Bigfoot existed...it would not be here...as the park is smack middle inside the Bay Area, you will not even find black bears here (Yosemite yes, but not Redwood Park). Although the ocasional mountain lion pops in once in a blue moon.Leave a comment:

Wow, it's beautiful!
I'd ask if you saw Bigfoot, but I don't want to get anything started.

That scenery is beautiful. I'm trying to get back into walking/running shape after some bad health issues that past couple of years. You've inspired me to try harder to get better.Leave a comment:

Man, that would rule. Most of my friends don't wanna walk...just one...but we have different schedules, but we do meet once in a while. I went with him and his wife to Yosemite two years ago, it's about a 3 hour drive from me...

Redwood Park is obviously no Yosemite, but it's a very nice regional park just 10 minutes away from, and it does feature plenty of good old California redwoods, it's a great local park...

A hidden redwood forest lies off Redwood Road just a few miles over the ridge from downtown Oakland.
One of the trails...

One of the entry roads...

Redwood Park is just not just redwoods...

There's an awesome planetarium on a section of Redwood Park, the Chabot Space and Science Center...

Lake Chabot is the park next to Redwood Park...

This picture tells you the topography of Oakland. The section next to the water is often referred to as the flatlands...you see that is not nearly as woodsy and green as the Oakland Hills, were Redwood Park is located...

Northern California is Redwood country...but outsiders are still shocked to see something like this existing in Oakland...
Of course, Redwood Park's redwoods are puny compared to Yosemite's Giant Sequoias...
