Name A Classic TV Series Mistake

Name A Classic TV Series Mistake That Happened In An Episode

    I'll begin with-

Television Series: The Wild Wild West.

    Mistake:

Robert Conrad, as Secret Service agent James West, climbs over a wall and splits the back of his pants!

When reaching the other side of the wall the character Jim West squats close to the ground as Artemis Gordon walks past Jim's right side, but the camera clearly shows Conrad's undergarments showing through a long vertical tear in the pants' fabric.

They just kept the film rolling, Conrad finished his lines, beside a water fountain if remembered correctly, then it cuts quickly to the next scene.

Caution is advised, on modern televisions, the viewer can see a lot.

The moment made it on DVD, and the scene in preserved there.

I found it really funny when I first caught it.

It had to have been played on the air, amazing. A subliminal shocker there. It was a color episode. (after Season One)

Warning: Slow-motion and pause shows a bit too much.

    The Incredible Hulk.

Thanks to DVD and larger TV screens, in many episodes you can clearly see that the supposed-to-be barefoot Hulk is actually wearing adorable little green booties to protect his feet.

I will admit that as a kid, if there were any coverage flaws in Lou's green makeup, it disappointed me a little.

I was watching episodes of The Incredible Hulk recently, and I agree...In a few scenes you can clearly see where the green make-up has worn off...But for all it's bloopers and flaws, I still love the show...

In the second Captain America tv movie, there is a scene where Cap chases down a thug in a dune buggy, and after he throws him to the ground you can see that Captain America is not wearing his red glove, his bare hand is clearly in the shot as the camera lloks down at the bad guy on the ground behind Cap.

              LOL I know right?

There was one even worse than that. I remember one episode where the Superfriends were trapped in a pit. Batman throws his Batrope and starts to climb out. The next cut shows the entire group, including Batman, watching HIMSELF climb out!

Hogan's Heroes --- set in WW2 Germany in the winter --- you can clearly see a palm tree in the background of multiple episodes.

You can also see the Desilu studios water tower and the main Desilu building complex in multiple episodes.

Captain Kirk also split his pants in the classic Trek episode "The Savage Curtain". You know, the one with Space Lincoln.

There are TONS of goofs like that in Classic Trek...and they are all well documented.

A continuity that makes it into nearly every episode of Batman is Robin's gloves. The scene of Batman and Robin sliding down the Batpoles and taking off in the Batmobile was filmed for the pilot. In that episode alone, Robin wore lighter green, cloth gloves. For the rest of the series, he wore darker, leather-like gloves. In nearly every episode, he's shown with the cloth gloves during that sequence.

The TV series "In the Heat of the Night" had TV movies that I saw late one night. A guy was on the run from the cops and goes to his girlfriends place. The next seen is of the two of them in bed together with him on top and they roll over to her on top and she was fully topless.
Zombie? Vampire? Evil clown?!? Yes, please.

This may not be considered much of a gaffe in comparison, but I was watching Classic Star Trek's episode "Day of the Dove" on blu-ray the other night and when Kirk picks up Chekhov in the Enterprise corridor after knocking him out, you can see very clearly a very long velcro strip along Chekhov's pants where his phaser would be holstered. Usually they kept the velcro out of the limelight.
