Had the pleasure of meeting him several times with my son who was a young boy at the time but was really into Battlestar Galactica. Richard took the time to talk to him as well. he's definitely one of the good guys. gone too soon. RIP Mr. Hatch

Man, now we're moving into the 70's talents passing...I think these past and next few years will be known as the end of Hollywood. Even though the studios will exist in some form, they are not creating the amount of durable stars that existed until a decade ago.Comment

So glad I met him 2 years ago and got a pic signed. Sat in on his panel where he showed his self made trailer from the 90's for his concept Galactica reboot.... essentially a sizzle reel to sell the idea. It looked awesome, and hit all the right nostalgic beats. As a die hard fan of the original show, it would've delighted me had it got made.
As for Richard Hatch himself... He was so gracious and kind and patient with everyone. But best of all, he was passionate. He loved Battlestar Galactica. He's been such an ambassador for the show, appearing in the reboot, writing comics, even providing liner notes to Stu Phillips' soundtrack. His passion transcended Galactica also. He was just filled with enthusiasm for whatever he had to work on next. He was the kind of person who could've been a motivational speaker. A life well lived, I think.
Sad that Glen Larson and of course Lorne Greene are gone too. We will probably never see another reboot closer to Larson's original vision.Comment

Very sad news. My brother and nephew met him 2 years ago and he thumb wrestled my nephew. They said he couldn't be more down to earth and cool.
Always thought he was a cool guy. RIP Apollo.Check out my website: Megozine Covers - HomeComment

Carrie Fisher in December and now the BSG community has lost one of their tentpoles. I enjoyed interacting with Richard via Facebook. Great guy. Wish I had the chance to talk to him in person. Condolences go out to his family, especially his son Paul.Comment

He played 'Wade Walton' (folk art sculptor) in one of their best episodes "the Conflict", prior to taking to the skies in search of Earth.
