Date, event, birthday, etc, memorable moment, when a loved one passed?

My dad died on 2/05/2005...one day before Super Bowl XXXIX, Patriots 24, Eagles 21.

I was actually at the nursing facility, still bedridden. His death was expected, as a hospice nurse was at our home that Saturday night. Got a phone call that night, and family members visited me the next day, Super Bowl Sunday.

I had a TV on the room...so was numbed and removed from his passing...actually watched the game, but without enjoyment...just watched it like a robot...don't even remember that game. I did not cry. As a matter of fact...hardly any emotions, was in a matter of fact mode...because that's how dad influenced me. But about two weeks later, emotions overcame me...and had a good cry...felt better, and that was that.

Ever since then, Super Bowls are always a bit bittersweet, but mostly still fun...as death is a part of life, and you have to move on. But it's always on the back of my mind.

    Anyone else?

I had to have the best dog I ever owned or knew put down on my birthday. Since then, my birthdays have not been very happy times. RIP, Cokie, you were a great dog and wonderful soul...

sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

Back on March 18 '05 I had to have my 16 YO cat put down. St Patty's day is annual reminder of 'tomorrow'. Luckily, I'm not Irish, I think that would make it worse...
I've come here to chew bubblegum & kick ***. And I'm all out of bubblegum
