The day I fell in love with my husband and soul mate.
The day when Dylan was born, on one of the coldest days in the Bay Area for quite some time.
The day when my second son was born-- All I could think of as I freaked out in the OR room was of the movie "Coma" but to finally meet him after nine months was quite a blessing.
The day when my third son was born--he came two weeks early and totally unexpectedly but man they couldn't hustle fast enough with that epidural.

To me nothing beats holding your children for the first time, after they had been kicking around in your insides for months on end.

Mine in chronological order...

1) Christmas Morning 1974: Seven year old me recieves The MEGO Batcave Playset along with Batman, Robin, The Joker, The Batmobile, and The Batcycle. I remember that my hands were literally shaking from the excitement. Disappointment in the overly simplified design of these toys would not come until several days later. And then a MEGO customizer was born...

2) August 6th 1977: My 10 birthday. My gift was to FINALLY be taken to see STAR WARS for the first time. I have not been the same since.

3) May 21st, 1980: Openning day of The Empire Strikes Back. I was twelve years old and nearly excited into a full brain siezure by a battle in the snow with giant Imperial Walkers, a dizzying chase through an asteroid field, my first sight of Yoda, the capture of our heroes at Cloud City, and a lightsaber duel with Darth Vader, topped off by "Luke, I am your father".

4) May 25th 1983: Openning day of Return of the Jedi. The bassy voice of Jabba The Hutt, Luke's terrifying confrontation with the Rancor monster, Leia in a metal bikini, the exciting escape by our heroes at the Sarlaac pit, a space battle to end all space battles, The Emperor, the death of Yoda, and Darth Vader un-masked... It was almost too much for me to take.

5) June 21st, 1985: High School graduation day.

6) August 8th, 1987: I meet and instantly fall in love with the young lady who eventually becomes Mrs. Darklord.

7) May 19th 1999: The openning day of STAR WARS Episode I: The Phantom Menace. The electricity and excitment in the air was palpable. And despite the world's hate-affair with Jar-Jar Binks, I absolutely loved this film.

8) February 14th, 2000: After a long courtship, Mrs. Darklord and I make it official in front of a small gathering of family and friends, in a beautiful ceremony at the top of the World Trade Center in NYC.

9) May 19th 2002: Openning Day of STAR WARS II: Attack of the Clones

10) May 3rd 2005: The day my wife and I closed on our Brooklyn apartment building property.

11) May 19th 2005: Openning day of STAR WARS III: Revenge of the Sith. The final duel between Obi-Wan and Anakin was beyond anything I could ever have imagined.

12) October 18th, 2006: My second kitty cat (out of three) "Wampa" returns home on his own after being "lost" for over 3 months. He chased a bird that landed in my back courtyard, jumped the fence into a neighboring courtyard and somehow got lost. No sign of kitty for 3 months, even after printed photo postings throughout the neigborhood (offering a reward if found) yielded several false leads.

Finally, one day, out of the blue, after we had given up all hope of ever seeing him again, he non-chalantly just re-appeared. I was shocked one morning to see him peeking into our kitchen window, asking if I'd provide him and his new hoodlum cat friends with a little snack!

Judging by how thin he had become, it was clear that he was NOT eating regularly and was quite hungry. And now he wanted me to give him food, and allow him to go trapsing off to God-knows-where for who knows how long.

I didn't THINK so! There was no way I was going to feed and reward this knuckle-headed cat after all the worrying and anguish he had put us through.

I gave him two options:

1) He could forget all about his new "gangsta" cat friends and this silly outdoor lifestyle and become a proper, clean, healthy, well-fed, pampered but reformed house cat.

OR

2) He could go back to his good-for-nothing idiot cat friends and their criminal lifestyle and take his changes starving on the streets while scratching fleas and ticks.

The smart boy chose to stay home.
