Really shocked to hear this. The irony of him passing on Christmas Day, and the perpetual playing of "Last Christmas" at this time of year is heavy. One of the best voices in music, bar none. Being a big Queen fan, his live cover of "Someone to Love" at the Freddie tribute concert convinced me the man was far more talented than he was normally given credit for.

    RIP.

I have a tradition of listening to Christmas music a couple days before Christmas. I was driving to my parents which is about 2 hours away. When the station fades out of listening range I always considered it symbolic of my Christmas music listening until the next year. The last song I heard was last Christmas then it faded away..was sitting with my brother who was looking at his phone and told me George Michael had died. I thought he was joking but he wasn't. For some reason this particular year I heard that song played a lot.
Was never really a fan but Everytime I here that Wham song "everything she wants" it immediately takes me back to the summers of 1984/85 in ocean city, Maryland hearing it being played at the beach t shirt shops and the counter girls in there Frankie say relax shirts singing every word! Good times!
Man 2016 has been brutal and sadly I can only wonder who the grim reaper will take in 2017..

Michael had recently gained quite a bit of weight...

George Michael was reclusive and struggling with his weight in the months before his death.

Perhaps I jumped to conclusions by stating a possible AIDS diagnosis...we will not know for sure until a bit later...but AIDS patients don't tend to gain weight...quite the opposite...

Same here. Was not really a George Michael fan...but after that Freddie tribute concert...I wanted George Michael to front Queen...not Paul Rodgers nor Adam Lambert.

Actually, they do with today's medicine...

"Use of the steroid oxandrolone is associated with significant gains in weight and body cell mass in HIV-positive men who had experienced HIV-related wasting, according to an American study published in the March edition of the Journal of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndromes."

He had the chops but had way too many demons he dealt with. Had and incredible voice and when he sang someone to love he proved to any doubters that he could hang with the great singers and would have loved if he would have fronted Queen even though that's a bit impossible.

wow the chairman of the board himself wrote to george personally back in 1990

couldn't imagine frank writing to many of today's pop singers

great way of looking at fame and really good advice too

George Michael was not only super wealthy...but also a very charitable person...
