My friends always tell me I should watch it. I tell them I'm too busy watching the stuff they're into to watch it.

Uhh, when didn't it suck? Its just an awful show, not funny at all and the nerd humor was forced and did not seem natural at all. I keep waiting for the day when this show is taken out behind the barn. You must try to generate happiness within yourself. If you aren't happy in one place, chances are you won't be happy anyplace. -Ernie BanksComment

I think the show has surprisingly maintained its quality. The characters have grown and evolved, as they should. If they didn't, what's the point? The only character who really hasn't (outside of his ability to talk to women) is Raj, and they even pointed this out in the last episode.
The baby was just born, so we really don't know how this is going to affect the show. People get married, have kids, and it throws off the dynamic of a group. It happens. I think it's actually kind of refreshing that they have taken the chances they are taking, and breaking the formula. They had like 6 solid years before Sheldon and Amy started dating, and that's what really began to change the show.

I'm on board with you. Big Bang Theory has lost it, though I gave up on it last year. I find Modern Family unwatchable now. Thought the first few seasons were very funny, but, just like with BBT, the writers began to pidgenhole the characters into only their most basic traits.Comment

I'm still in with it. I mean the Sheldon Amy romance kinda kept me going but I still get tripped by Amy's quick transformation to normal while Sheldon is still suffering from his "Beautiful Mind" persona. I think Amy lost too much of her quirkiness too soon. Two things that I wanted to happen were the introduction of a Female nerd character or two. One of the shows gender failings is that it has maintained the stereotype that only guys geek out about stuff. Dang don't they know how many women geek out about the Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, Dr. Who, Twilight (Okay Twilight may not be Hark Core Sci-fi/fantasy but you get the point). I work part time in a collectible toy store and yeah, We get quite a bit of young attractive female clientele. The other thing I was hoping was for Penny to somehow get back to acting. They had her mention that she was not happy selling pharmaceuticals. I had always thought it would be an awesome plot point over several episode to have Penny get a role in some top Secret Sci-Fi related (Star Wars) Movie TV show and have to hide it from the guys due to a secrecy clause in her contract.
Another thing that I feel has not been dealt with in the show is differences in gender related Geekery. In the past Penny has shown an albeit limited affection for Anime character "Hello Kitty". This has never been dealt with and since they offer no Female nerds there is also no chance to deal with gender based nerd clashes (Dracula vs. Twilight, Hunger Games vs. Logan's Run or some other of the franchises that seemed gear to female fans and not to mention the whole Guy Anime/ Girl Anime gender riff.) So far the only fan action the girls have shown is Amy's fandom of Little House on the Prairie???
Even more plot could be found if Penny returned to acting and needed to draw inspiration on how to act "alien" for some project and found it from Sheldon or Raj. I mean there is probably tons of story fodder there if the just delve back into the Fanboy and Fangirl root of the show.Comment

Whenever a comedy introduces a baby/small child, you know its Jumped the Shark. There's many examples of this, like the Brady Bunch, The Cosby Show, Friends, Scrappy Doo, etc. Big Bang Theory is really showing its age, and while I still watch, it's sporadic and I'm usually folding laundry or something else while it's on. The characters had to grow and change, and the addition of two solid females to the cast kept it fresh for years beyond it's original appeal, but creatively, it's done. For the last couple of seasons, it's felt like the worst parts of "Friends," which also over stayed its welcome.
TV shows are like everything, they have a life span. BBT is getting long in the tooth I think.
I love watching reruns of the earlier seasons, later seasons not so much, and new episodes I DVR & watch when I feel like it.
I got to be honest, I got a 'thing' for Kaley Cuocoso I'll keep watching...unless she cuts her hair again...season 8 really sucked for me LOL!
KI've come here to chew bubblegum & kick ***. And I'm all out of bubblegum
