My tree is currently in my garage because we have a whole family ritual when we set it up which involves playing Christmas Vacation, eating junk food, the whole shebang but I thought I'd start this thread anyway. I'll add mine over the weekend.

Here's a shot from the outside of our house. My gals were in the process of trimming our trees (my daughter has a little one she puts in her room).

It's a family tradition to go out and cut down a real cedar tree every year. I've never had an artificial tree for our main tree, either as a kid or adult. The kids have small artificial trees in their room.
We tend to try to keep this to lights and ornaments only, because there are TONS of Hallmark and other ornaments on this tree. My Mom managed a Hallmark store for over 10 years, so she brought home a lot of now-vintage ornament goodness.

We've been collecting year balls every year since 1996. Now 20 years worth on the tree. It's a nice way to remember Christmases past as we decorate the tree.
Real trees don't fare too well in the Australian summer.Even My Henchmen Think I'm Crazy.Comment

We always had our tree in the corner so cedars always worked perfectly because many have a split trunk so taking only one trunk leaves a nice flat back to the corner.
Also, it lets the remaining trunk live to grow full out.Comment

Im still deciding on doing a tree this year or not...But here is the one I did last year, and this year's would look very similar...Like Earth 2 Chris, I too am a huge Hallmark ornament fan...I love their pop culture type ornaments, the tonka and fisher price toys, etc...Also have alot of those Ne'qua (?) ornaments, which are the glass ones that are painted from the inside...Tree skirt was handmade by my sis-in-law along with a set of matching stockings...Aint she talented......

We haven't lifted a finger to decorate yet - either inside or outside. Both kids are in choir and/or band, and it seems like every other night we've gone to a concert, or something. Last year I bought a skinny silver tinsel tree to go in the foyer, but it's quick & easy to put up and it might just be our only tree this year.Comment

I rarely entertain around the holidays so it's been probably 8yrs since I set up a tree in my apt.
Last week I got a random burst of inspiration to use a bunch of stuff I had sitting around and put together a nerd tree to rule them all.
Combine one strand of lights + a tote full of dollar store style plastic Rayguns + a plastic space helmet and a few hours w/ a drill, and you have this pile of sci-fi holiday cheer.
I tried to upload an 8sec vid to show the thing in action, but photobucket seems to have eaten it.Comment
