We should all get together and Jam-Out. We could be called the Megomaniacs.

      Does the radio count?

Just kidding. I actually tinker a little on the keyboard, and I used to take guitar lessons when I was in my teens. I'm waaaay rusty now.

        Thanks.

At the moment, no band. I was having a hard time finding anyone wanting to do what I did (Trouble/Solitude ish stuff), so it's on hold. The local thing here seems to be big on tribute bands, not my thing.

Keyboards primarily and I had a couple of classes in college that covered a lot of brass and woodwind instruments.

Yeah I know how difficult it can be to find dedicated people especially to play stuff like that. Even being here in Chicago you'd think there'd be more people wanting to play Trouble-type of stuff but no. Even Trouble has to look far and wide to find new members it seems!

The tribute/cover bands are good for making some money and having a bit of fun but not the most artistically satisfying route, at least in my opinion.

Trouble, Solitude Aeturnus, (and Candlemass) are my favorite doom bands actually

Did my BS in music performance-Tuba and Bass Trombone. Spent most of my 20's as a vagabond freelance orchestral musician. The salad days.

I'd love to jam with Trouble, that's one group I've never tired of ! Not from a drumming standpoint, but the guitar work is just so cool. A copy of Trouble/ST and Manic Frustration stay at hand in the truck at all times.

Bill Ward is the man in my book, very underated.

I play the drums. I have a mostly Tama trapkit with Paiste cymbals and Zildjian K hats. I'm a solid intermediate player -- strong on funky beats and jazz-rock fusion beats, but I sometimes lose the tempo when I try to do elaborate fills. I'm workin' on it, though, and gettin' better every time I play.

Agreed, I never tire of Trouble! Their (ex) bassist Ron Holzner is a good buddy of mine and even worked with my band for a while. Those guys are really talented and, unfortunately, underrated.

I'm a guitarist but I'm infatuated with drums. What size are those kicks on that double bass kit? I love the oversized kick drums, very Seventies

Those are just 16x24, I have a 14x26 sitting here for the black chrome Slingerlands and a huge 20" floor tom too.

My main kit is a Broken Glass Glitter (silver sparkle) Tama with two 18x22 kicks. Seems it's more about depth than diameter these days. You can't even get a 14" deep kick anymore and it's getting tough to get these things through doorways.

A black Slingerland kit with a 26" kick and a 20" floor tom sounds pretty damn sweet to me!

I have noticed the trend towards those deeper kicks nowadays, especially on those new Gretsch and Tama kits that seems to be the norm. They do sound pretty good though I gotta say, especially those Tama's.

Sorry to hijack the thread with drum talk, everyone!
