    RIP Alan Thicke

Apparently he suffered a heart attack while playing hockey and passed soon after. I just saw him on Chopped, one of my kids' favorite shows. Too soon....what a year.

Sad news. My family and i literally just watched him guest star in Fuller House and we told our kids how we watched him on Growing Pains when we were kids. Always liked him.

O M G, I'm so sad. I loved him. I grew up watching "Thicke of the Night" and "The Alan Thicke Show" when they ran simultaneously in the 80s in Canada. So sad. I don't recall the actual quote, but back in the day, I often remembered when he interviewed Lou Ferrigno, who was marketing a new health snack at that time; Alan asked him what was in the ingredients, & Alan made a side joke about the contents being something from the 'corner of the barn'. OMG, so funny, IMO. Also for me, great "Growing Pains" memories: He delivered a line about being so upset with his tv son, he wanted to buy him a car, then take it away from him to see the look on his son's face. Gosh. Funny, funny guy in a Dad role, showing nurturing and relatable immaturity; able to take silly material and deliver it with great range of expression. What a legacy of humour. RIP. Kindest thoughts to his family and friends through this difficult time.

One of my favorite TV dads. Possibly the last non-moron Dad on TV as well. Okay, maybe Bob Saget was, but Thicke was close. RIP.

Among his credits, he wrote the theme tune to Diff'rent Strokes.

Thicke had a talk show in Canada for about three or four years in the 1970s, he replaced Alan Hammel (who had just married Chrissy from Three's Company). I can't find any clips of it save for this one below but I remember he had Harrison Ford on in 1977 and they discussed some space movie he was doing. It was my first exposure to Star Wars.

                wow

Alan Thicke, the beloved TV actor who epitomized the role of the sitcom dad, died Tuesday at age 69, his agent told CNN.

I remember in the 80's he seemed to be unheard of and then all of a sudden he was everywhere.

                  RIP
