It's about 100 miles from me. Arson is suspected but really nothing is known right now I think. At noon I heard about 100 + homes and businesses were gone. I can't imagine all the mountain wildlife killed. They have the roads blocked off going into Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge and are evacuating people out of there as fast as possible. Here we had several fires over the past couple of weeks but now are under control. The air was so thick with smoke you couldn't see the mountains. Last night we had some storms move through and although it brought some much needed rain it also brought strong winds which caused the fires to jump all around in the Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge area. Almost jumping from mountain to mountain from the pics I've seen. The fires here where I live were started last night by downed power poles and power lines. These pics are from the Gatlinburg area.

This is horrible...I love the Smokies, Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge area....I try to go up there as often as I can and can't believe so much of it is being destroyed.

          Wow,

Looks like teenagers. I never imagined they'd catch the ones responsible for this. I hope for their sake it was neglectful carelessness. Otherwise they have serious villainous status looming over their heads for a long time to come. Neglect would be bad enough but malice resulting in that much carnage? I can't imagine. Such a beautiful area and all those lives shattered.
