Christmas is a huge deal in my family and still is today. Of course my favorite's will always be the one's when I was a kid.
Going through the sears and Best catalogs as a kid circling what I want was a highlight.
It seemed EVERY house in our vicinity where we lived when I was a kid looked like the griswalds (including ours) and even those who didn't really celebrate it had a decoration or 2 out (sadly not like that anymore there), carolers, and they even had a police officer dressed as a elf directing traffic..
One thing Im very grateful for is that all that majic was captured through pictures and 8MM film. My dad would film and my mom and grandmother would snap away. So very fortunate for that but to be honest folks its emotionally hard for me to watch those old 8mm films (which I have on DVD now) and look at those pictures ..
On christmas morning while we unwrapped presents my dad would play traditional christmas music while we unwrapped presents..To this day Ill never know how they hid the presents cause me and my brother searched every inch of the house and we NEVER saw them put presents under the tree no matter how hard we tried to stay up...
Dinner was huge and my entire immediate family would be there.
Going over my grandparents house to spend the night on christmas day is a tradtion I had up until there passing in my late 20's..
The malls back then being decked out and packed 24/7 for christmas. Still like that but not even close to being how it was.
And of course this commercial and store. The store may not even be close to what it once was nowdays but back then it really was somewhat majical and made alot of kids like myself happy on christmas..
