Okay, so I'm cleaning my house all day today, just as I do every Saturday.
I admit it, I'm a neat freak!
Anyway, I usually like to throw something on the DVD player or VCR machine while I clean, just so that my mind is entertained while I sweep, vaccum, polish, and wipe.
Today, I decided to play my VCR tape of MEGO toy commercials. I've watched this thing a thousand times, but I never get tired of it.
In no time at all the World's Greatest Superheroes Collection commercial (from 1976) began to play, and I suddenly made an interesting discovery regarding The MUSIC.
It dawned on me that a full two years later, film composer John Williams used the same basic musical phrase from the MEGO commercial for his score for Superman: The Movie!
The first eight musical notes of the MEGO commercial are virtually identical to the Superman theme's 8-note phrase.
Check it out!
