    Dawgs Rule

Just read the new dog thread...its great when someone rescues dogs-especially shelter dogs. I work as a Humane Officer and people ask me all the time, "have you got any good dogs at the shelter?" my reply is always"yea about 300 of them". Also...if you go somewhere with your dog in the car with you, please don't leave him in car if you got to store ...even for a few minutes as they can get heat stroke really quick-even when weather seems pretty mild. In California we have new laws prohibiting this. 1 more thing whileI'm on my soapbox...please report any kind of animal abuse/neglect to your local Humane Authorities asap. Dawgs Rule...(Cats too).

    I agree!

Dawgs do rule. More specifically, mutts rule. We adopted ours from the Humane Society almost 10 years ago. Greatest dog ever. What kind is she? She's a brown dog. That's it. She looks like she's part Border Collie and part lab, but there's a lot of other canine DNA floating around in her gene pool.

I always find it odd when people look for a specific breed and pay like over a grand to get one. Mine was $50 and I got my money's worth the second I petted her for the first time. She was the weirdest looking dog my wife and I had ever seen, but the minute I felt her fur, I knew I was going to adopt her. Kids love her. They call her the "soft dog" and just bury their faces in her fur. She doesn't mind because little kids usually have food around.

My suggestion? Go to the Humane Society/Pound/Rescue Center and look around. You'll really surprise yourself with the kind of mutt you connect with.

Yessir, they rule. 3 of our 4 are rescues, Punky's even a sort of Katrina dog. The local shelter called us a few days before it hit, because they knew they were going to be needing the room for refugees from New Orleans. We took possesion of her from the vet after she was fixed the day the hurricane hit N.O. She's turned out to be the nicest little pup.
