    Newest Dog

    This is our newest rescued family member. Her name is mystique and she is 6months old. Super great pup, can't believe someone abandoned her.

    dontcha hate when people do that? my wife rescued(and gave away) a black puppy pug a couple of months ago. the guy was going to shot it, since it hadnt gotten it's adult coat yet..it was like 6 mths old at the time...people are stupid..

          lol, no she's a Shar-Pei. Fighters many years ago in china. They were originally palace guards. Then the were breed for farms and watch dogs.

                They are two different styles within the breed. The first being super wrinkely with a very course coat and second with some wrinkle but generally tighter skin and a smooth coat. That is what mystique is. In both kinds they loose almost all their wrinkles as they mature.

                  There should be a test before adults get to own pets or kids. Some don't know that they needed to be treated right.

                      They can be very challenging if you aren't a dog person or don't have the patience. Shar-Peis tend to be very aloof and don't respond well to conventional training (generally speaking- of course some do). They're not super friendly and cuddly *except* with their people, and that bond can take longer to develop than with a lot of dogs.

                      I never knew anything about them AT ALL until we rescued our mutt- a Shar-Pei/German Shepherd mix...

                      One thing I'll say about our boy because of his mix - AMAZING watchdog when he wants to be.

                              Thanks guys. I have the my big baluga Sundance to show her the ropes and keep her in her place. He is now 1 1/2 and 92 lbs. He was also a rescue.
