It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown beginning from 1976

Remember when you waited all year for the first special of the holiday season to come on? This clip has a show pre-empting announcement, the famous CBS rotating "special", intro and Dolly Madison commercial break. Enjoy!

"Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."

Thanks for posting that! Yes! Wish those were on the home video versions. Always had Dolly Madison as a sponsor. Was that Oliver from the Brady Bunch in the commercial?

Factoid: The music for the CBS Special Bumper is from the soundtrack to Hawaii Five-O.

Such great memories. I totally forgot how iconic Dolly Madison was as a sponsor to all the Peanuts specials. Thanks for the flash back!

Ha! What great memories... Thank you for posting that. We watch it every year on DVD, but seeing the CBS Special swirl and hearing that music... I'm a kid again!

Neat! Thank you for posting this.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

We always watched every Peanuts special as a family. That spinning "Special" graphic was a pretty exciting thing to us as kids.

ahhh yes, nothing like nostalgia...sure you can buy it on dvd now, but it looses something without the dolly madison commercials inbetween...I even remember that "special presentation" little blurb and music for that channel right before the Great Pumpkin intro...It's amazing the stuff you remember from that period on tv when you don't see it anymore...

Excellent! I have the dvd but it doesn't compare to watching the old video taped off of Channel 2 with the commercials and everything. Actually this Youtube channel also has a clip of the beginning of Charlie Brown Thanksgiving that came from my own personal videotape from when I was a kid (I donated it to them to include on their channel). I still prefer watching that old fuzzy tape than the dvd

That's awesome! I'd totally forgotten about that spinning CBS Special intro; really brings back the memories. I also remember living in fear on the day of the specials, wondering if they would be preempted by another program, especially when they aired on football Sundays.

I've joked for the last 20 years (when reminiscing with people) that I knocked my own Granny down when I heard that!

I read some guy on YouTube used to slide in front of the TV like he was sliding into home plate. His dog probably ran for cover!
