    When I was young, it totally insulted me that my older cousins would call them 'dolls'. "They're not dolls! They're action figures. Today my wife calls them 'man-dollies'. I toally want this shirt!

      I never called them "action figures",I've just called them plain "figures". Never understood the "action" part.

        I always thought the "action" part of action figure was to distinguish them from figures like the old army men that were simply posed and did not movie, hence action=movement. Since GI Joe were military toys, I thought it was meant to set them apart from the army men toys that (such as those from the Marx playsets) that were ubiquitous on the market when GI Joe was introduced.

          In the Mego commercial themselves they call them action figures. "Mego presents the Planet Of The Apes action figures." I have never called them dolls.

            ^ Well, I call then "action figures" too. I just find it amusing that some find it threatening when they're called "dolls"--which is what they are.

            I remember when, Next Gen-era, fans suddenly became the somehow cooler "Trekkers." I'm a Trekkie.
            WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.
