i don't disagree with anything you say but that dog in the photos was not on her last leg, so to speak so I find the story hard to believe. when I had to put my dog down, he could not even stand anymore, or eat, he was certainly not playing at a the dog park , or eating McDonalds. that being said, having to put him down was the hardest thing I have ever had to do and I still to this day feel tremendous guilt over making that decision. I felt like I was playing god, making that call, even though I knew it was mercy and the right thing to do

Can't even bring myself to look at the pics. I photographed my beloved 17 year old cat in the vet's office one last time before we put her to sleep a few months ago. I still miss her every day.

Every pet owner who faces this has to make the call on their own as to when it might be time to put their buddy down. Sometimes an animal who may seem in perfect health may be in great pain, and just manages to hide it well. A caring pet owner will know and hopefully do the right thing at the right time.

That said, it makes my blood boil that there are pet owners out there who decide to just put their pets down because they have become "inconvenient". These kinds of people should not be allowed to own pets (or probably even have kids, for that matter). If you're not willing to shoulder the responsibility and the possibility that one day your pet may require a lot of extra attention, just don't get one in the first place.

Look what happens when you aren't allowed to play with "dolls"...
