Even TV theme songs?

I knew about how some shows they had to change the music in shows ex.WKRP I just didn't know it extended to the theme songs themselves. Was watching Married.....With Children on Crackle last week and instead of "Love & Marriage" there was some generic theme music playing. Is it just them or has other theme songs been changed?

That's not technically a "theme" song though, it's not original to the show. I imagine the rights issue would be the same as the WKRP example given.

The Wonder Years, until recently, were not able to use the Joe Cocker sung version of "With a Little Help From My Friends".

I haven't watched early episodes of Happy Days lately. Have they done that with "Rock Around the Clock" too?

Gary Marshal was smart enough to have Bill Haley rerecord Rock Around the Clock for the first season openings.

This way the record company that owns the original 50's hit is out of the loop.

BTW, the TV version is quite rare to own ... Not sure if it's ever been officially released.

Anytime I've ever seen the "Happy Days theme" released it actually was the 50's hit version.

Bonanza changed there theme music in the later seasons, have no reason why but would like to know,

I bought the Season 1 & 2 DVDs years back; they had replaced "Rock Around the Clock" with the Happy Days theme.
