    Your favorite record label art

I remember when I was really little and learning to read, I used to love helping my brothers sort and catalog their 45s. I loved looking at all the different record labels. While we sorted, my brother played the records, and when I asked to hear one, he'd try to trick me, picking a different song from the same label, but he never could. (I couldn't quite read yet, but I knew how many words were supposed to be in the title! ) Anyway, this memory got me thinking about the cool artwork that could be found on labels back in the day. Did you have a favorite? Here's one of mine:

I used to stare at this thing forever, imagining a record on fire and melting on the turntable.

    What labels did you like?

Actually I was just referring to the art on the label, not the brand.

^^ one in the same, in the case of Motown. I grew up in the rustbelt… the art is the map of Detroit with the multicolored type they used; hence the colloquial and regional phrase, "They put Detroit [back] on the map!"

Also, a few other weird labels that stand out in my memories ....

Neil Sedaka - Bad Blood ... had a kind of Thomas The Tank Engine label

Neil Diamond - Hanky Panky - Bang Records (gun on label)

Was always infatuated with the Casablanca record labels!
