WHY OH WHY is life so unfair????

I just missed a big screen showing of Planet of the Apes at the Castro in San Francisco. It's TONIGHT!!!
If I had gone straight from work, I would have been there in 20 minutes. Why didn't anybody tell me until it was too late to get my duff over there?

Words cannot describe how horribly disappointed I am....

Maybe they will show it again in another 5 years for the 45th anniversary...and by then my Zira costume will be complete and I will be decked out in full ape glory including full appliances from Ape Mania.

At least they are showing it again on AMC this Friday. I can at least have something minor to look forward to...so I don't have to curl up into a ball and die just yet...

I think I have a pic somewhere around here with me and Kim hunter in the 70's I was like 4 or 5 and she was in full make-up at a car show here in Ohio I remember she scared the crap out of me I was sitting on a stage and my dad was taking a picture of me and she came up behind me and put her hand on my shoulder I turned and saw this hairy ape hand on my shoulder and thats when dad snapped the pick lol you can see how I was feeling by the look on my face

It has been said that everything happens for a reason and that good things happen to those who wait. Hang in there Jess! Time will heal everything.

Jessica you probably wouldn't have liked it at the Castro - the Gay community tends to hiss at people on the screen. Although that could be fun too !

                    Oh man...

                    I feel your pain Jessica.

Back in 1985, here in NYC, I was on a huge line for about 5 hours to see the ONE TIME ONLY showing of the entire STAR WARS Trilogy at the (now defunct) RKO Warner Theater. The line snaked from the theater entrance (49th Street and Broadway), up to 50th Street. It turned west on 50th, continued all the way up to 8th Ave, and turned left heading south to 49th street.

I was pretty far back on the line (somewhere on 8th Ave).

Now there were folks in costume everywhere, and the theater had even hired a really big guy to dress as Darth Vader and greet people at the theater entrance.

                    It was awesome!

Finally the line began to move. There was excitement and electricity in the air.

When I was literally 3 people away.... okay let me say that again... When I was LITERALLY 3 PEOPLE AWAY FROM THE THEATER BOX OFFICE it was announced that tickets were SOLD OUT, and that no one else would be admitted into the theater.

I damn near cried. I saw grown folks begging the theater manager on their hands and knees to be admitted. But he would not budge.

I know it's no consolation right now, Jess, but a much better big-screen POTA viewing is likely in your future. Thst was what eventually happened with me with the STAR WARS trilogy.

So definitely no need to curl up in a ball and die. Besides... we'd all miss you terribly if you did!

It will come around again...and next time you'll be the star in your suit.
And if your customs are anything to go by you'll look great.
