    Mel Gibson's Hacksaw Ridge trailer

I can't wait for this one...

Mel Gibson’s World War II drama Hacksaw Ridge received a roughly 10-minute standing ovation at Venice at the weekend, something of a rarity at that particular film festival.

According to Deadline, about six minutes into the ovation Gibson and key cast members Andrew Garfield, Sam Worthington, Vince Vaughn, Hugo Weaving, Teresa Palmer and Luke Bracey were asked to go into the audience to greet people.

Hacksaw Ridge centres on the real-life story of Desmond T. Doss, a conscientious objector who saved 75 fellow soldiers in Okinawa without firing a single bullet; a pacifist, he in fact refused to even carry a gun.

Current 91% Rotten Tomatoes fresh rating.

    Mel Gibson is back!

Whatever a person may think of Gibson, this looks like a damn fine movie. It's an even better real-life story.

My son showed me this. I was really into it, and then I saw it was directed by Gibson, and I have to admit, that took me aback a bit. And I honestly hate that, because I used to be a fan of the guy.

Despite what he has said, this looks like a fantastic film, with great performances. I'll probably see it.

wow, this looks like a great movie and definite academy award material.

say what you will about Mel Gibson and his personal beliefs and statements, the guy is a very talented actor and director. I look forward to it. I can easily put aside my personal feelings about an actor/director's personal life/actions, if they make quality movies and Gibson always has...but yes, I think he is a complete tool in real life

I could care less about Mel Gibson's personal life...like the rest of Hollywood is so benevolent and perfect, lol.

So he got drunk and did something stupid, big deal, many of us have.

As long as he's not a murderer, rapist, pedophile, and thief...the only thing that matters to me...is that he's a damn bloody great filmmaker...and that he entertains me...

Mel Gibson was blackballed by the Hollywood elite...yet Roman Polanski and Woody Allen were not.

Gibson vilified and epically insulted Jews. In Hollywood you don't recover from that. However, I happen to like his work and truly don't care about his beliefs. Same with Cruise, I like his work despite his off screen antics.
I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.

If I were to ignore all films with people who made questionable life choices, I'd never see another movie.
I can't support Tom Cruise's life vision, but he does make great SciFi!
I seriously dislike James Cameron, but love Aliens and Terminator.
And William Shatner will always be an (deleted). And yet, I love Star Trek and Kirk is my hero.

So yes, I'll see Gibson's movie, and if he's ever in a Mad Max movie again, bring it on!
