Not a household name but one you'd know from Seinfeld, The Crow and a slew of Coen Brothers movies. Often playing a miserable guy, he was far younger than I realized.
if i haven't got him mixed up with someone else
he was great in the rocketeer
really had that 1930s character actor thing down to a t ,as did most of the cast
great movie
He was a great character actor. His performance is Miller's Crossing is one of the best supporting roles in the Coen Brothers canon. He deserved the oscar, in a movie full of osacr worthy supporting performances (Hell, Marcia Gay Harden should've at least got nominated too, as should have John Turturro)
I used to love the way he pronounced ethics "Et-tics"
Too soon,
Matt
