In the movie To Sir With Love, a kid try's to explain that to Sir...
He say's "Ginger Beer = queer"
I think that movie was the only time i've ever heard that slang.

Good Grief I thought you guys spoke English?
Lo there do I see my Father.
Lo there do I see my Mother and my Sisters and my Brothers.
Lo there do I see the line of my people back to the begining.
                      Lo they do call me.
They bid me take my place among them.
In the halls of Valhalla where the brave may live forever.

In the 70s when the Krofft series "The Bugaloos" was out, the "bumble bee" character "Harmony" used to speak in cockney rhyming slang. Here are some of the phrases he used:

Gingerbread (your head, like using your head)
                            Giggle & poke (joke)
Be on your Edna May (on your way)
                            Apple pie (Sky)
                            Noodle (your mind)
"Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."
