    Things I like about dvd/blu-ray vs vhs:

    No rewinding/fast forwarding
    Picture/sound quality
    Dvds take up about a 1/3 of the space of vhs tapes...

      I threw away most of my VHS tapes. I had look on ebay to see what they were going for and it was just not worth the time to sell them. still have a few but as I replaced things on disc over the years, the tapes just got tossed. I have two VCR's that rarely get used. I keep them unplugged until we want to use it, less chance of surge damage or whatever.

      I had a VCR/DVD recorder, SONY, but the damn thing kept giving me trouble. had it repaired once under warranty but after the warranty ran out, the vcr half stopped working again so I tossed it. I did convert almost all of the home video stuff to DVD first though, including making multiple copies so each of the kids will have one once they grow up and move out on their own. it's fun to go back and watch the stuff now and then
