    R.I.P. Gary Marshall

The creator of some of our favorite shows..

One of the nicest guys in Hollywood, the older brother of Penny Marshall also was behind TV’s The Odd Couple and Mork & Mindy. Garry Marshall, who created and executive produced some of the most popular sitcoms on TV — Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, The Odd Couple and Mork & Mindy, among them — and directed the box-office smash Pretty Woman, has died.

Since Happy Days is my favorite show of all time..I think this is appropriate (from the final episode)

Aww, that's a shame. Happy Days is my favorite as well. I loved a lot of his work. Sad.

He worked right up until the very end, and gave us lots of laughs along the way. Thanks Garry!

Thanks for the memories Garry Marshall! Happy Days and many other of his shows hold a special place in many of our hearts. They were kind of like pseudo-family members. We watched the shows with our siblings, parents, friends, etc. We recall the days when there were only a few TV stations. Kids all watched the same TV shows and listened to the same commercial jingles. We went to school the next day discussing those shows. No cell phones, no social media. Ahhhh the good ol' days! We are lucky! RIP!

I enjoyed watching him on the new Family Feud. Also made the new Odd Couple a little bit watchable when he was on there. Also enjoyed his run on Murphy Brown.

That's very sad news indeed, along with Aaron Spelling he was one of the best. RIP Garry.

Of course Happy Days is on most folk's minds--but for me, the first few seasons of Laverne & Shirley and the entire run of The Odd Couple were funnier, somewhat better-written shows.

                  RIP Mr. Marshall.

Thanks for the memories. Happy Days is all-time favorite show, still thankfully have my tapes from syndication years back, to cover the various DVD issues (unreleased seasons/replaced music).

Does anyone here remember the never ending Happy Days thread we had on here a couple years ago where we started with the first episode up until the last? That was fun. Can't seem to find it though.

I was looking for it earlier today too. I think it was called The Happy Days Appreciation Thread. I think Toyroom started it. A lot of our old threads seemed to be gone, or at least not as easily accessible as they used to be.
