only teams who it would make a difference in would be San Antonio or ClevelandLeave a comment:

I think he's pulling a Lebron, he'll win this year and head back to OKCAs an OKC fan, that was like a Draymond Green kick to the groin. Durant is a really good man, teammate, and ball player and he is going to be missed here. He did what he felt he needed to do and I think it was in spite of genuinely liking Oklahoma City and the fans. He knows he's loved here and I'm sure that made the decision harder for him.
Now back to basketball. I have absolutely no ill-will towards him, but I certainly can't root for his success for obvious reasons. It will be interesting to see how this plays out because it is far from a given that OKC will suck or not be a contender without him.Leave a comment:

the problem with that is atht you have to find a team he'll wanna play for, cause no team would trade their assets without knowing for sure he'll sign an extension...Maybe Miami would be a good fit, we give them Dragic who's a point guard and throw in Winslow and a pick I think it's a fair tradeLeave a comment:

man that team went from 48 minutes away from the finals to possibly a lottery teamThe Thunder made a few mistakes, starting when they let Harden go.
Then, just not too long ago...they traded Ibaka, their defensive stopper.
Now that Durant is gone...Westbrook might bail next year as well, unless the Thunder trade him before he becomes unrestricted free agent next year...at least get something worthwhile in return...Leave a comment:

When, say, Malone left Utah for LA he wanted to go out with a championship so the people complaining about KD need to get a grip. Yes, Malone was retiring and KD is not, but that's how things are nowadays. Other examples were already cited.
I don't agree at all with ESPN commentator Stephen Smith belly aching about KD's move being the weakest move ever in history. Like Tom stated his move guarantees nothing. Sometimes players don't gel well.
I stand by my comment about KD leaving, it's been a talking point since the Finals were going on at my work. I mean, sure he could have stayed but the OKC organization--or any other team-- in a similar situation when a super star contact runs out--wouldn't be doing their job if they don't anticipate things like this happening, it's business. Of course teams like businesses sometimes get driven to the ground.
Spurs are old. Kudos to their organization for their loyalty to personnel. Coach Pop would have been replaced on other teams in as many years without a championship, sorry to say.
When are the Knicks going to matter again? Absolutely stunning how that has worked out before Phil Jackson or since. Will their new lineup change anything for the better?
Unless there are other pending shakeups, I suspect we'll see the same aforementioned NBA teams toward the final stretch: Spurs, Clippers, HOU, Heat, Hornets, POR, IND, ATL, etc.
Anyone know the latest on Dirk N of the MAVs?Leave a comment:

Green being suspended for game 5, and Bogut injuring himself...is NOT (yeah, I can capitalize too, lol) cherry picking, those are facts...but you conveniently left out those two points.
Anyway, ALL MOOT POINTS...
Warriors won the first...Cavs the second...
Let's see who wins the TIEBREAKER!!!

I didn't complain when the Cavs lost last year. Honestly I thought they stayed in it longer than they should have. Injuries are a part of the game and quite frankly general wear and tear is also part of that equation. Also Curry was NOT playing injured against the Cavs. Nor was Thompson or Green. That team was the SAME team that came back from being down 3-1 to the Thunder who was also up 3-1 to the Cavs before losing it all. Exactly how much cherry picking do you need to make to accept the fact this team got figured out and worn down? They lost. They found themselves on the losing side of history and there is no asterisk that will say the Cavs had some kind of advantage in that equation. Indeed. The Warriors had EVERY advantage handed them and they lost. NOTHING will ever change that. The Cavs earned that win and you know that. Be a good sport and accept it as a good victory.Just like you Cav fans were crying and whining last year, when the Warriors beat your boys...that Irving and Love got hurt...now it's our turn. Curry playing hurt, Green getting suspended for that key game 5...and Bogut out...yet you just barely won...
Now get ready for some pain...and I'm not even talking about the Warriors...in the East...the Celtics, Heat, Knicks, Bulls...are all coming for all of yous...they all smell blood...

The Durant move to Golden State is NO different than LeBron leaving Cleveland for Miami. The guy wants a championship and he believes the Warriors give him a good chance. I can respect that. But we should ALL know that just collecting big stars on one team does not result in instant titles. Look at the Heat as a great example. They had all the stars when LeBron showed up and the media praised them as a "super team", just like the chants are starting with Durant and the Warriors. That first year they lost to Dallas and many questioned what was wrong. Of course the next two years following that collapse saw the Heat pull down back to back championships. But allot of that had to do with LeBron taking on a leadership role and everyone buying in.
There is NOTHING automatic about Durant coming to the Warriors outside of enormous pressure from fans and the unforgiving sports medias' expectations to be everything short of perfect. You can have that. Who would want that kind of expectation coupled with images from these finals which they will have to answer to every time something looks "wrong". The hangover question will abound as soon as they lose a few. This is American sports Hector. The media builds them up to tear them down. LeBron knows it well. Let's see if Curry and company weather the barrage of speculations, expectations, and criticisms, fair or not, that will hang over them all next year and for many more to follow. I bet they will have less condescending remarks to offer those who have walked in those shoes. But more importantly who becomes the leader on this team of stars? Jordan was the leader of the Bulls. Bryant for the Lakers. LeBron for the Heat and Cavs. There are plenty of questions for the Warriors next season. Let's see what they get figured out.Leave a comment:
