It was like the NLCS all over again :)

To all the Cubs fans here on the forum:

Looked like this for 2 of the 4 games we swept from you guys:

I know it's a long season and the Cubs are up by 8 games...but it's gonna get longer if you guys can't get ANY pitching. Be it another starter or any sort of relief.

We need to beat the Nats like that. Amazing how hot the mets can get.
But when they are cold.... It's not pretty

Hopefully the Mets can finish strong against the Marlins and the Nats....ESPECIALLY THE NATS!!!

If all goes as schedule they should be adding Wheeler to the rotation by Early August...just in time for the stretch run. I don't mind a 6 man rotation.

Every team goes through rough patches. Am I worried about the Cubs pitching? Not at this point of the season. Mets caught the Cubs after they've played 2 weeks straight without an off-day and with a bunch of talent on the DL. How different would your tune be if those 4-3 games had flipped the other way? One or two hits in those games, and you're looking at a split. That happens in baseball.

If I remember correctly, the Cubs swept the Mets last year in the regular season. As we all know, the regular season doesn't mean diddly-squat against momentum in the playoffs.

Honestly, the Cubs starting staff will be just fine. There's enough talent there to win the NL pennant. It's not as strong, top-to-bottom, as the Mets. But, I'd put up Arrietta and Lester against any team's top 2 and take my chances with Lackey and whichever pitcher between Hendricks/Hammel is hot enough going into the playoffs. The way the Cubs can hit makes up for a ton of deficiencies elsewhere.

They do need lefty specialist out of the bullpen. As July 31 gets closer, I'd expect they'll make a move to lock one down as there's really no one fitting the bill for them in the minors right now. It's going to be a fun season to watch.
