Speed Racer new movie question

Last night on Tivo I watched a featurette for the new Speed Racer movie. I noticed that they had two different actors portraying Rex Racer and Racer X. Aren't they the same person?

In the original cartoon they are the same person. I haven't looked into the story line for the movie.

Wasn't Racer X actually Speed's Brother?

Yes, he was. The original animated series made it a point to say "Here's Racer X, unknown to Speed he is Speed's long lost brother."
