Scammed by IKEA

Unlikely but i don't turn down free beer, unless it's in a creepy old van. Fool me once....

It was a big location so I thought they would have a lot of their smaller items in stock, I needed a lighting accessory that hoped it might be there. Nope, but they could order me the $10 item if I wanted to pay the $20 delivery charge.

You know, that part of it puzzled me too. All that cheap picture frame and candle holder stuff wasn't present. The store is bereft of impulse purchase items, which probably would help generate revenue. Next door is a JYSK (a Danish chain that's the same as IKEA) and that's all they freaking sell! Guess which store is busier?

Also and this is just a thought, I paid $20 and it still takes a week to come from Toronto?

That's interesting. I hadn't known about these little pickup stores. We go to Ikea every year, or so, and have never had an issue. Of course, all we've done is load stuff onto the dolly and check out - no delivery or anything. Those fees sound crazy.

Yeah, the location near me used to be a Futureshop location, a lot of floor space there. I walked in assuming that they would have a lot of their smaller household items in stock, but nope. Makes no sense...

There's a JYSK only 15 minutes away from me, we buy plenty of stuff there.

Digressing a bit, I can't believe that there is not a single Ikea in Buffalo, NY. How many are in the Toronto/Hamilton/Burlington area, but they say Buffalo can't even support one? Every time I go to the Burlington location there are tons of cars in the parking lot with NY license plates!

Do you know it's pronoounced "Jeeesk" ? I was forever calling it J-Y-S-K.

They used to make a Detolfe knock off that was WAY better than the Detolfe itself. I bought three but I wish I had purchased ten. They were the same price too.jysk.jpg
