I just seen George Foreman on a new commercial and it struck me how good he still looked ... then I just read this about Ali a few hours later.
Very sad, but when the man leaves this Earth his memory isn't going nowhere.Comment

I despised Ali when I was a kid. Didn't like his brashness and overconfidence. Then again I was only 8 years old when I saw him vs. Leon Spinks. Over the years seeing his BATTLES with Frazier/Foreman/Norton I grew to really appreciate a GREAT boxer. That's what Ali was...A GREAT boxer. Not a brawler going toe to toe. Ali manipulated the ring and his opponents like he was conducting an orchestra. It's a shame that he continued after losing to Spinks. IMHO if he would have called it quits before Spinks nobody would have said that he wasn't the greatest of all time. He was. When I heard the other night that he was rushed to the hospital I said that this wasn't good. Unfortunately it wasn't. Not only was Ali a great boxer but he was a man that stood up for what he believed in. Becoming a conscientious objector during the Vietnam War was a bold stance to take and Ali was sentenced to 5 years in prison, which was appealed, and although he didn't go to jail he was stripped of his Title and banned from Boxing for 3 years. Prime of his boxing and he did what he thought was RIGHT. There will never be another like Ali. Float like a butterfly sting like a bee...RIP Ali.
