    Questio of the day...

I read this in a magazine today (Uncut)... we had some fun with it at work, so I'm gonna ask it here.
There is a suitcase with 75 million English pounds (or the equivalent currency of your choice i.e about $150,000,000). You can pick it up and have it... BUT... If you do, a man in China will fall off his bicycle and die.
    It will be your fault.
    Do you take the money?

If the result of keeping the money is a person must die --- no way would I keep it.

It's like making a deal with the devil, and everybody knows how them deals turn out

I'd rather be poor with a clean conscience

I love money, but no amount would ever get me to murder anyone (and the above scenerio is basically murder)

          Interesting question.

If it caused a death, then no.

Before I picked up the case, could I buy the guy in China a safer bicycle and a helmet?

                Interesting question - many possibilities.

The question is so hypothetical that I don't think I can honestly answer it.

                There are too many possibilities.

Maybe his is a horrible person, and is about to go into a school and shoot a bunch of people, or abuse his wife and kids. - Absolutely I would pick it up.

Maybe he is an organ doner and his death would save several people in need of organs or something. - Absolutely I would pick it up.

Maybe he has a family that totally depends on him coming home to take care of them. Absolutely NOT would I pick it up.

If you reduce it to the bare bones of the question. Then I would probably pick it up. Is that selfish or cruel?? It Depends - If you could save several lives based on how you use the money, would that justify the loss of 1 man?? I think many would say yes.

No, because he was probably the last guy to pick up the suitcase.

You could also save several lives by giving up your own life and donating your organs to someone who would die otherwise but because there is no vested interest in the person who would suffer the consequence than it real boils down to whether or not you can be bought.

I would definitely say no because of my own belief system and the sanctity of human life. I also couldn't live with the thought that I allowed myself to be bought at a price.

                        Yeah, I would.
                        1. £75 Million would keep me so preoccupied that I don't think I'd
give the Chinese Man a second thought...sorry.

                        2. He probably would have died anyway with that dodgy bike.

                        3. I'd could buy anything I or my friends ever wanted.

Why do British people always seem to apologize for being blunt?

I just couldn't live with it on my conscience

What good is money if you can't enjoy it ?

By belly would be fed, i'd have a million Mego's, many cars, a whole bunch of honey's ............. but i'd still be a murderer

I just couldn't live with that.

I'd rather be a poor slob with a clean conscience --- which I am

Yes, then donate several million to medical research to save thousands of other lives.
