Watch out for those deer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For 24 years I have drove the same way to work with never any issues or problems with deer. I have seen them hit and laying on the side of the road, and other people from work have tagged them, but I have been lucky until today. As I came out of a bend , luckily slowing down because of the bend , 3 deer came across the road. I hit the breaks and swerved into the other lane, big mistake thinking about that later, because if there would have been another car coming it would have turned into a head on crash . Luckily no car coming towards me. I missed two of them and tagged the 3rd with the front bumper knocking out of the way as I came to a stop. The deer got up and off on their way they went.
No damage to the car, but my back and shoulder are killing me from the fast stop, and the seat belt left a nasty mark across my chest.
I would always think " oh that poor deer" when I would see one dead on the road, nope not no more, stupid deer, watch out for them!!!!

Had my share of lucky misses with deer, cows, alligators, and even a human or two over the years. All tense moments. Wrecks hurt.

if you see one go across the road in front of you, you should automatically be breaking/slowing down down for any others. I know it sounds like common sense to most but a lot of people aren't aware that they travel in groups. Lots of times deer cross the road and people think they're lucky they didn't hit it but then the second or third jumps out and surprises them.

So scary. Glad you didn't get hurt worse. We often take physics for granted when we drive. Those deer are massive, in the literal sense of the word, and can really mess you up.

I do always feel a tinge of remorse for roadkill. I'm a big softie, I know, but if not for us, those critters would still be alive doing their thing. Not that I'm willing to give up my car, but it always gives me pause.

On my last job I drove 75 miles each way on a 2-lane highway daily. I counted seeing 77 deer in 3 days once. Some just standing in groups of 3 or 4 just a foot or two off the shoulder. I would always say "please don't move" while I drove past. Luckily in 15 months I never came close to hitting one.

Holy smokes, that's like deer hunters heaven , wonder where they all go in hunting season ? glad you were always able to stay safe !

Driving about 65mph up I5 I came about 5 feet from hitting a deer. Had to break hard and swerve to the right. The deer bounced into heavy traffic, got hit once, shook it off, jumped over the medium and into the other lane of traffic. It got hit and killed over there. I only know all of this because my parents were behind us a few cars back to watch it and tell us about it. I didn't see it past it jumping scared after us nearly hitting it. Poor creature : ( This was about 10 days ago.
