Do you believe in baseball superstitions?

Here in Baton Rouge, college baseball at LSU is almost as big as college football.

Our team this year is (was) an ok team, middle of the pack SEC team.

Then two weeks ago on Friday night, we were down 9-1 to Arkansas. We pulled with in 5 runs after the 6th inning.

That's when it happened, in the 7th inning, a baby opossum ran out on the field, causing a ten minute delay while they tried to catch it.

Next thing we know, our team gets hot and comes back to win the game in extra innings after tying it up in the bottom of the 9th.

Since that game, we have not lost a game, going 11-0 since, including beating the #1 team in the country two games, the third starting shortly.

Aside from LSU's win streak, Arkansas has not won a game since the "Rally Opossum" (that's what it is called now). Their losing streak is the longest in school history.

    Baseball superstitions, real?

Crash Davis (in the movie "Bull Durham") said something along the lines of, "If you believe you are playing well because you are wearing womens' underwear, then you *are*".

        Nah.

As Yogi Berra said: Baseball is 90% mental and the other half is physical.

One team mentally broke down, and the other team took advantage of it.

Now if you had said this is the third time an opossum has run out on the field when LSUs been down and they've come back all three times, maybe. :-)
