I think Tom Ellis could pull it off with very little effort. From the general concensus list, I would pick Fassbender. Just for kicks, would be fun to see some pearl clutching in response to the appointment of an American actor to the role...Liev Schreiber, perhaps...

The first actor to play Bond was American Barry Nelson in a live tv version of Casino Royale. American actor John Gavin was cast for Diamonds Are Forever before Connery was lured back. American James Brolin screened tested to become Bond in Octopussy before Roger Moore agreed to do the film.

Bale is the same age now when Brosnan took over Bond, and Jackman is only three years older.

What's the the bigger sell for MGM? A Dark Knight reteam or starring Wolverine? That's a nice marketing problem to have.

Hey, if Brits can play Batman (Bale) and Superman (Cavill)...an Aussie play Canadian Wolverine...then a yank can certainly play Bond...

Yes, of course, the single TV broadcast, a possible consideration amongst many, and an almost.

Personally I would have loved to have seen Gavin in the role, Brolin not so much.

Now...back to the world renowned and beloved motion picture franchise that actually exists.

If Hiddleston can play Hank Williams, why not Bond too?

Wish they would start showing Bond regenerate onscreen

That's an interesting idea for Bond, but he is so iconic as the weasel Loki, I'm not sure I can reconcile seeing him so debonair as Bond. That's a pretty big shift in portrayals, but I see the rationale for looking his way. He certainly has screen presence.

I don't think Jackman and Bale are too old but I think Sony would disagree. I suspect that someone under forty will be cast with the possible intention of locking them into a long term deal.

Hiddleston would be good... but I agree he could stand to put on a few pounds of muscle for the role.

Really like Hiddleston, but not as Bond. Bond needs a harder edge, a more experienced man. Hiddleston would make a good Q.

Yeah, I think he's an excellent actor but I don't think i could take him seriously as Bond. He'd been a great Bond Villain though.

I was also wondering if he hasn't been approached to play a villain. Now that would be great!
