Freddy Mercury the greatest rock singer...

...Of ALL-TIME. No duh. I know that and a lot of others know that. But now there is scientific proof:

    http://consequenceofsound.net/2016/0...singing-voice/

    There will never be another.
"When not too many people can see we're all the same
And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
    The beauty that surrounds them
    Isn't it a pity".

    - "Isn't It A Pity"

They needed to "prove it"? Uh...yeah. Hope that wasn't funded by the taxpayers. Is there scientific proof farts smell bad?

While I do appreciate the scientific aspect of this...I don't need further proof than from what I've already known for decades...yes...Mercury is the best of the best, no friggin doubt about it...I still get saddened of his premature death, what a loss, what a loss...

        Long live Freddie!

I'm not sure about the best ever. He had a four octave range, and so do a whole lot of other people.

And there are a bunch with a five octave range or higher.

Not saying he wasn't really great. But the best?

Actually, Lonnie, the article claims to disprove that he had a four octave range. What it does find though is that Mercury was able to produce 2 to 3 notes simultaneously by using both his vocal fold and ventricular fold, thereby singing a chord by himself.

I put Freddie in my Top 5 voices (subjectively, I can't pick one). But trying to prove something that is subjective scientifically is silly to me.

He was an extraordinary talent! I don't need a study to tell me that.

I really like "Somebody To Love". I think that shows his voice off the best.

Why Queen tried to keep it going is still beyond me. They replaced Freddy with one of my other top 5 Rock n Roll singers of all time in Paul Rodgers. Love Paul Rodgers singing, Bad Company is one of my all time top 10 Bands, but he wasn't even near Freddy's vocal talent. I personally think they should call it a day and work on the Biopic on Freddy and look to the Vaults for anything that might be of use as far as unreleased material. The Adam Lambert fiasco was just an absolute joke and shouldn't have been considered. There was only one Freddy Mercury...let that be the end of it.

I always wondered how Steve Perry would do singing with Queen. He's got the octaves.

As for the greatest Rock-N-Roll Singer of all time, My vote would go for the baritone, Jim Morrison
