Bill Mantlo is well known to Comic Book fans as the writer of Micronauts, ROM, HULK, Alpha Flight and many more books. Some may feel this belongs in the comic book section but I thought I would post this here in the General Buzz area to get as much attention as it can get. This is a message from Bill's brother, Michael Mantlo, who contacted me on Facebook, and is trying to bring his brother Bill home and get him care at home. I wrote an email myself and would ask if anyone is so inclined please write in as well. Here are the details:
**********PLEASE HELP US BRING BILL HOME! **********
For those unaware, my wife and I have been working tirelessly over these last few years to get Bill out of the nursing home that he has been in since 1995, and into a home setting with in-home care. Our dreams are getting VERY CLOSE to coming true! We purchased a 5-acre piece of property here in Delaware last year, and have submitted an application with the county to place a 2nd dwelling on the property directly next to our house.....this will be BILL'S OWN HOUSE!
OK.....here's where you all come in.
The county has reviewed our application, and scheduled a public hearing on April 4, 2016 to ascertain the merits (and any possible detriments) of having a 2nd house on the property. Although we submitted a lengthy affidavit verifying everyone's (us, Bill, Delaware Medicaid, the nursing home staff and the doctors) approval of this plan, the bureaucratic poobahs are now asking for MORE "evidence" that this would be beneficial. I plan on giving all the board members of the County Planning & Zoning commission copies of "MANTLO: A Life In Comics", as well as Bill Coffin's 2011 LifeHealthPro article "A TRAGIC TALE", to fortify my argument.
I'm thinking that if I submit LETTERS (e-mails) from as many supporters, followers and fans as I can, that might just be the tipping point in the approval process.
I'm asking EACH and EVERY ONE OF YOU to send me an e-mail (if you don't have my e-mail address, send me a FB message and I will send to you immediately) voicing your support for our efforts.
The more positive voices that are heard, the more difficult it will be for anyone to deny our request!
