    What's up with Walmart?

Is it just me or does Walmart seem to be the only retail chain that isn't promoting much merchandise for the new Summer films coming out? Target has gobs of Ironman and Speed Racer merchandise, but your hard pressed to find much of anything at Walmart stores. They all seem to be focused on saling off old toy lines. Are they backing off the toy merchandise for summer? That would be odd since you have so many movies with toy tie-ins this year (Ironman, Batman, Hulk, Indiana Jones, and the list goes on and on).

They Bought way tooooooooo much Spider-man3 Crap as well as F4 Crap. They are licking thier wounds.
Seriously though,.. Target always puts stuff out faster & pulls it faster & then throws it on Clearance. They just don't give a Damn,.. & always wanna have the next best thing. My Walmart Finally put out thier IronMan Toys Last week,.. & didn't have much more than a case... maybe 2. SpeedRacer Toys have over half of an Isle on 1 side,.. at ToysRus they have an entire Isle. ... Is it Just me,.. or does anyone else think there is just way too much Racer Stuff sitting on the shelves right now,.. that wont sell & will be in clearance bins ? Other than 1 car,.. I just have no interest in the Movie or the Toys.

I agree...with a whole slew of summer blockbusters on the way of bigger franchises I don't see Speed Racer having the legs to last as long as all of the merchandise. There is going to be a Nickelodeon cartoon spin-off but I don't think even that will help move all of the SR back-stock that's clogging up the racks and shelf space.

The local Wal-Mart started carrying the die-cast cars from Speed Racer a few weeks ago.

The stores around my area are flooded with Speed Racer and Spider Man stuff. Too bad it couldn't be something more worth while to me say like EMCE figures or something Mego like.

I always thought it was a mistake to go absolutely crazy manufacturing items/tie-ins for a film (or films) that are yet to even be released. I mean there's no way they know the film will be a hit or not, and if it flops, then what? They're stuck with piles of junk to get rid of and the companies don't recoup their losses.

I suppose I can see some advance stuff to get a bit of hype going, but all out merchandising is just a waste. They should start small and if the film is huge then do more merchandise.

it started with the first spidey flick..they way over merch. that one...then it just kinda hit the fan with everything else...
as for walmart, i know that they cant put any new stuff out until the old stuff usually sells..and they hardly ever put anything on clearance...which is just stupid...at least ours hardly does that....

Dont know about your areas but my Walmart has tons of Ironman and speed racer stuff out. Figures, cars, dress up stuff.

We have tons of Hulk and Indiana jones stuff. Figures, Those little preschool hero squad figures, vehicles, dress up stuff We just cant put it out till the 1st.

We even have stuff coming in for the new batman movie and that animated Kung Fu Panda. Strange but this stuff isnt dated. They have been working it to the floor. I saw yesterday the basic DArk Knight figs came in But didnt get a chance the check the case. Wanted to see if a Ledger Joker fig came in.

Alot of Wal-Mart stores put out Hulk movie merchandise and then had to pull it. In fact, the store in my area did that. The items wouldn't ring up. They are time released for March 1.
