    Another Question For Non-USA Peeps

Sitting here listening to Hank Jr and a thought crossed my mind.

I can't picture Country music being popular anywhere in the world except the USA and maybe Canada (and that's maybe)

    Whatcha think ?

I am with you. however my wife really likes country so I unfortunately have to hear I a lot. I guess it is fair since she has to listen to my classic rock all the time. at least she goes with me to concerts though, I refuse to go see the country acts she likes. she brings my daughter sometimes or goes with friends

i think it must be popular over here because you do see country artists in the album charts but not a big youth movement like mods, punks & skinheads used to be.i think certain pubs put on country nights.

I have been all over the world and yes modern country music is only popular here in the U.S. Over in Europe they like the OLD country outlaw stuff and a few other old artists but thats it. What shocks most americans and non heavy metal music fans is that Heavy Metal is big all around the world and is even here in the u.s. despite the fact that it is not "mainstream" music.

Canada has always had it's own country music scene, it is not a quintessential American concept. When my in laws have had a few, they break out 78s from the 20s.
