today my pc decided it would not play dvd's or cd's i then tried to burn a dvd nothing it doesn't even read the disc any ideas what could have caused it.

Could be anything, but if you have any mechanical ability at all, the drive itself is so cheap and easy to swap out that it's almost not worth the time to try to figure it out. I probably wouldn't do much more than reboot the computer and maybe open the case, blow the dust out and check the connections are tight.
It shouldn't cost much more than $20 or so to get a new internal drive these days. -
I hadnt used mine in some time and I tried it a couple of months ago and it wouldnt read anything. All I had to do was reboot the computer and it worked fine, so that might work.Comment

My region-free DVD player choked on a $1 DVD, and died.
I miss my US DVDs....

it is been repaired it was the dvd/cd drive and laser.Comment
