I work for a newspaper and the UPSP has different shipping rates based on the ratio of advertising to editorial content. We have to report the percentage of advertising space in each issue, and if it's above 58% the postage goes up.

i thought the u.k. was bad but sending 4 comics from northern scotland to the southern tip of england would cost about $3.50 at the most.

    Lets discuss the USPS...

I've lost about $10 off of my profit on 2 items I sold on ebay in the last 2 weeks. USPS says that I can't ship comic books via Media Mail which is an absolute joke. I could care less that it has advertising in it, which disqualifies Comic Books from being shipped Media Mail. What does that mean??!!?? It's an F'n book...it's media. DVD's and video advertise all the time with "coming soon" at the beginning of all of their tapes and DVD's. Some of the older CD's came with mini catalogs included in the booklets yet they can go media mail. Almost 4 bucks lost on an item I made $6 on after everything was said and done fee wise. Today was an even bigger joke. Mailing from NY to California 4 comic books....$11.51??!!?? and that didn't even come with insurance. That's highway robbery. I never had a problem in the past sending Megos Boxed or loose that weighed about the same or more for about half the price. I think the Post Office is trying to get everyone to use flat rate mail so they don't have to do any thinking. Anyone else think that they are jerking everyone's chain these days? Discuss.
