My new favorite song and band...

Caught this band, "The 1975" on SNL this past weekend and I have not been able to get this song out of my head...it is INSANELY awesome.

Figures they're British...almost all my favorites are.

Hmmm. Definitely not THIS old guy's cup of tea at all. And for a band calling themselves "The 1975," why do they look and sound more like rejects from 1983? Glad you dig 'em, though, Dwayne. Music is pretty much one of the most subjective tastes in the world, so rock on, son!!!

As for them sounding like rejects from 1983...well that's exactly why I love the song. Shades of David Bowie, Prince, and Duran Duran for sure.

The lyrics are brilliant too...they are a commentary on the shallow nature of social media, fame and celebrity.

I've never been into the 80s sound that they're emulating, so I'm not nuts about this either, but thanks for sharing it. It's honestly a relief to see a positive thread about new music on here.

See, I don't get that vibe at all...given the subject matter of the song, I took that as part of the "act". It is a music video after all. That's why he's interacting with all the cardboard cutouts of famous celebrities.
As for prefabricated rockstars, you could say the same about the Monkees, (who are pretty much held sacred here) not to mention EVERY big hair band of the 80's.

But, to each his own...all I can say is at 44 years old, very little new music impresses me, but these guys do.

Pretty much the vibe I'm getting from it. It has that '80s sound I like. They should have called themselves The 1985.

I'm a big fan of both songs mentioned Love me and SOB. I'm surprised at some of the negative comments but I suppose music tastes are subjective.
