This one got a bit lost in the tsunami of famous deaths in the last couple of weeks...
Clarence Reid was a soul legend who wrote, produced and performed some amazing hits. Possibly best known for Betty Wright's "Clean Up Woman" and his influence on Miami soul music in general.
As Blowfly he was known for his raunchy covers of famous R&B songs with hilariously X-rated lyrics. (I can't post anything here, but please look up his work!) He's also frequently cited as a major influence and originator of rap music. At some point in the late 80s Jello Biafra signed him to his label and re-invigorated his career by introducing him to punks and alt-hip-hop fans.

Over the years Blowfly fell on some hard times, and right now his family and friends are reaching out to fans to help cover funeral costs. As of right now they're under $300 short - so any donation no matter how small will help them make their goal. Please consider a small donation to this amazing and unique entertainer.
