Finally got my holy grail movie poster!

I was lucky enough to finally get one of these gorgeous S2 Art Group 1932 Mummy one sheets.

For those that don't know the backstory on these...S2 bought six 100 year old stone lithograph presses, completely refurbished them to like new condition, then assembled a team of artisans to recreate the original stone printing plates.
This poster was printed in exactly the same way as the original was almost 100 years ago, hand pulled, one color at a time. The results are nothing short of breathtaking. Stone lithography achieves a level of depth and color that is superior to any offset printing process.

GORGEOUS! But I am curious.....with those gorgeous vibrant colours,is it an original movie poster? Has it been touched up through the years?

I love movie posters and have several original ones hanging on my wall,but nothing as old or great as this one. I usually go for movie posters of movies that I like or love,like Rocketeer....the art deco teaser version....,Galaxy Quest,Stand by Me,Back to the Future,E.T.,Star Trek,Star Wars,Spider-Man,etc. One of my Spidey teasers is the one promo they had to recall and scrap because of 9/11,and I love that teaser poster which is why it's one of the permanent ones haning on my wall. Some of the others I change around every now and then,lol.

Still looking for an orginal E.T.,Stand by Me,and Rocketeer poster. I only bought repos of those.

To answer your question...this poster is not a 1932 original. Good lord if it were it would probably cost $500,000.
No, this is an exact recreation, using recreated stone printing plates and printed on the same 100 year old presses as the original. It's exact right down to the original printers mark which reads printed by Morgan Litho, Cleveland OH.
Many people don't realize Cleveland was once home to six different lithography companies and more movie posters were printed from the 1920's-1970's in Cleveland than anywhere else in the world. Over 90% of them!

I really love this particular artist...his name is Karoly Grosz, and he did most of the Universal horror posters in the 1930's.

Dracula, Frankenstein, the Mummy, the Invisible Man, The Old Dark House just to name a few.
