^Don't forget Bernie Leadon. Most do, but he was one of the founding four, along with Frey, Henley and Meisner. My Hell Freezes Over experience was great, but I seem to recall Henley got to do more solo stuff than anyone. Walsh did a couple of James Gang and solo songs too.

I really hated the deal with Felder. Never really knew what it was all about, but he was vastly underrated in the band. Just watch the Farewell I DVD set, and you'll see what I mean. Something is definitely missing with him gone.

Having said that, Frey himself was often overlooked in the band, at least as a guitarist. Once Felder and then Walsh joined the group, they were the guitar stars. But Frey was a great guitarist himself. Just listen to some of the breaks he takes on early albums.

What horrendous news. So loved Frey's work both as an Eagle and as a solo artist. Another major loss. Wow. 2016 stinks and we're not even out of the first month.

The documentary was easily the best music documentary I have ever seen. You need to give it a view.

My wife told me about this last night and I was pretty shocked. The Eagles Live is one of the most listened to playlists on my iPhone. Very sad news. RIP Glenn.

Listening to some solo Frey and Eagles, and the song "It's Your World Now" from the Eagles last album, Long Road Out of Eden is very haunting at this moment, as Frey sings:

          "It's your world now,
          Use well your time,

          Be part of something good,
          Leave something good behind,

          The curtain falls,
          I take my bow,

That's how it's meant to be,
          It's your world now."

I got to see the Eagles twice and Henley solo twice, most recently last November. What a great band they were, and what a talent Frey was. I would think his death is also the end for the band, which is probably how it should be. Terrific legacy. It always seems like these guys go too soon.

Closest I ever got to seeing the Eagles was when Tim Schmidt and Joe Walsh toured with Ringo's All-Star Band.

Back when I was in highschool The Long Run was HUGE

                RIP

BTW, one of my top 5 favorite guitar parts is in a Glenn Frey song .... The end of You Were Born In The City
