Wild Falcon in my yard today

So I go outside to throw some items in the recycle bin and noticed it was very quite,
I look over and about 20 feet in front of me sitting on a tree stump is a very large Falcon
checking me out, very rare to see that in my area, it flew up to the roof of my shed not making
a sound, I run in my house to grab my cell to take a pic, and of course it's gone, damn I hope
    it comes back.

Of course after it left, the birds, squirrels and chipmunks all came out from hiding.

We do have deer, turkeys, and plenty of coyotes in my neighborhood and I want to take
a pic of the coyotes since it's winter and there looking for food and are around more often now,
came home from a friends late New Year's Eve and my headlights shined on 3 coyotes in my yard,
    yikes!

    That's very cool

Have never seen one here in the Poconos - though I have seen some eagles

Speaking of rare birds I haven't seen a ****poke since the 70's

Wonder if their extinct around these parts nowadays

Years back, I was letting my Jack Russell out for a pee, and a white owl swooped down to grab him. I guess the bird quickly saw the mistake, pulled up and flew away. My dog never even noticed anything. I think with the dog being mostly white against a snowy ground, the bird misjudged its intended prey.

They're plentiful here in Ventura, awesome birds. A few years ago there was a mated pair raising a youngster in the trees and shrubbery along the side of our office building for a few months. We could see them frequently from the windows and it was an interesting experience to watch. The week it learned to fly and soar we all got so excited, and then when we came back after the weekend they had moved on. The "kid" would come back every now and then and hang out in the trees for a bit and then fly off again up over the fields behind us.

I thought you found a falcon you lost in your yard 40 years ago. Nice story, but not with the happy mego ending. LoL

We don't get Falcons here in my neck of the woods. Sometimes in Chicago, but not the suburbs. What we do get around me are hawks. There's one in particular that likes to hang around my yard, for whatever reason.

Birds terrify me. So, imagine my shock last spring when I went to pick up the mail from the front of our house. As I turned around, a flash of feathers appeared in front of me. A hawk had been in our front bushes, not 5 feet from me. I could have almost touched it as flew by. It perched in a tree branch in my front yard and just glared at me. I haven't had to clench that hard in years as I did on the walk out to my car.

            Birds are the devil, yo.
