Dairy Queen is much bigger and has more locations.

But it's basically the same thing.

Now as an adult, I prefer the denser gelato...the only problem is that it's so bloody expensive (due to being a poor shipping item, it doesn't have the shelf-life of ice-cream)...

Toffee Crumbles are a fave of mine, I also remember Push-ups and a Hulk lolly from the late 70s which I couldn't get enough of.

Is that a Good Humor product? It looks exactly like what's called a Toasted Almond in the U.S.

The Deli-man didn't understand a word I said, I had to do a mixture of pointing

When you order a sandwich, you need to tell them what you want (you should have said Tunafish) and then specify what type of bread you want it served on.

I had similar problems in England. I was visiting on business and had to lodge at a pub (which seems unusual to me but it was the only place to sleep around in the area). A couple of guys were trying to have a conversation with me asking me questions about America but they were speaking with such thick accents and using so much local slang, I really couldn't understand what they were saying. It was a strange feeling really. They were speaking English but I just couldn't understand what they were saying.

I don't know how far this franchise has expanded but Rita's Italian Ice is hands down my favorite ice cream place.

Their signature item is a gelati which is a custard style ice cream with Italian Ice. Good stuff.

I had a similar problem in London, I wanted a scrambled egg on a roll. What I got was "mashed eggs" -- which was egg salad. I hate cold eggs! Oh well live and learn. So what do you Brits call scrambled eggs?

                    another uk member here...

                    lol

made me laugh reading this thread and the many differences there are

i always laugh hard when i here them on tv movie ordering an ice cream off the van... the kid be like, "can i get a chocolate mint deluxe twist waffer double fudge sandwich with everything on and a flake sauce and nuts and a sparkler"... hahaa

off my van that would be a simple "99"

always made me laugh that, an ice cream sandwich?... thats like ice cream, ice milk or what ever you call it in between 2 slices of bread! lol

                    i used to like
                    nobbly bobbly
                    screwball
                    calipo
                    fab
                    mint crisp
wedge of lions made inbetween 2 waffers
                    sparkle
                    mini milk

i could go on... im looking out the window now for that van haha

                      "Tuna Roll"?

                      Sounds like a sushi order.

Do you add water to it to make milk? My wife told me when she was growing up, she grew up on some type of milk (maybe this stuff) that her dad always made by adding water to it. She never had fresh milk and thought it was gross.

It wasn't like they didn't have money, her parents just have some odd quirks. Her father still uses a wind up alarm clock and will go out of his way to find one if he needs a new one.

My remember my dad used to love Spam (meat in a can, not unsolicited emails) and would always have a container around.

I never understood why my dad liked the stuff so much so I asked my mom. She said when he was in the Korean War they used to hand cans of this stuff out for rations and to them, having Spam was their version of eating like a king since most of the food rations were much worse.

I guess he got so used to it and liked it that he always kept it around and would eat it just about every way imaginable.
