I do remember BK's version of the Big Mac but forget what it was called.
That's when McDonald's responded with their Big 'n' Tasty which was BK's version of the Whopper.
Neither one of them lasted long.
Since I eat low carb, every once in a while, if I'm on the run, I'll grab a couple of double cheeseburgers from the $1 menu but try to order it without ketchup or the bun. They can never get it right....completely unfathomable why someone would order just the meat and cheese with mustard, onions, and pickle. Try ordering it sometime if you don't believe me.
On the rare occassion that they do get it right, they stick the bottom layer of cheese on the bottom of the patty because that's how a double cheeseburger is made. No thought given to placing the cheese on top.
I haven't had one in a while but if I did, I would just order one without ketchup and pull the bun off myself since it is too much of a hassle to order.

I think BK's "Big Mac" was called "The Big King". It was much better than the Mac. Seems like it was out in the mid 90s while I was in college. We had a BK in the basement of our dormitory!!!

I always thought the McDonald's "Two all beef patties..." ad campaign was simple, and I could never figure out what was so difficult for people to repeat.
Years later they came up with another campaign for their standard Cheeseburger which was a little bit more of a tongue-twister:
"Choosy cheese choosers always say "Cheese Please" when they choose the Cheese in the Cheeseburgers at McDonald's."
All food from MD's makes my stomach hurt within a few minutes of eating it. I stopped going there altogether, except for the occasional breakfast sandwich.
