UPDATE: The website was launched in Jan and tickets have been selling steadily. I expect a big rush closer to the show. I want to update my offer to MM members. If anyone is close enough and wants to attend, I am offering FREE admission to any MM member. I have put aside a number of tables for friends and family and have plenty of seats to spare. So, if you want to attend, just send me a PM and I will put you on the list. They will radio me when you get there and I will come and seat you. This has actually grown quite a bit since I first posted. I was going to run this with CD tracks but after much discussion I decided to get a band. I broke the bank and got the best tribute band in the business - The Change of Habit. If I told you how much money I have in talent fees, airfare to get them here and hotel rooms, you would need to be sitting down. I am confident that the show will be a success and hoping we will have a nice amount to give to the Buddy Holly Educational Foundation (ALL proceeds are going to them). I hope to see you there!
Many of you might remember my occasional posts regarding the Elvis festival I attend every year. The first couple of years it was in the Poconos and the past couple it was in Ocean City. There are actually 6 or 7 of them produced by Sherry Management Corp. and he puts on the best shows. I encourage anyone who is a fan to attend one near you if you have the chance. They are a weekend of more fun that you will ever have. It started out as my wife and I and has grown to 20 of us that go and only 2 or 3 of us are Elvis fans. That is not the purpose of this post however. Due to my ongoing attendance at these festivals and my developing a friendship with many of the tribute artists, I have decided to put together a show of my own. This will not be as elaborate as the festivals and will not be an entire 3 day event. This will be a one night show only and will be more of a jukebox show. I have completed negotiation with 4 tribute artists which will give us a total of 8 sets of music. Tributes will include Buddy Holly, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, Tom Jones and 4 sets of Elvis Presley - Early years, '68 Comeback special, concert years and a "Rare Elvis Song Challenge". I am hoping to have a one song performance by a very special friend of mine as well. The show will be in Lebanon, Pennsylvania at the Eagles Club Room. Doors open at 5, show is from 6-9 with a short break and then music and dancing after party till 11-11:30. We have to be out by midnight. We will be offering food and drink for sale and you can bring your own food as well. There will be 40 tables seating 10 each - pricing will be tiered depending upon positioning to the stage and there will be 300 tickets of general admission. I will be launching the website sometime soon in the new year but I wanted to offer early seating to anyone here at the Museum. I will allow you to choose your seat before the general public AND give you a $5 discount off whatever seat you choose. If a group of members decides they want to attend I will seat you together at your choice of tables, again with the $5 discount per ticket. I don't know how many of you live close enough to the area that you might want to attend, but I wanted to put the offer out there either way. I know one member that actually lives in Lebanon. Not sure if he is a fan of the music. Based on the response I am receiving, I expect this to be a sell out. This will be a benefit for the Buddy Holly Educational Foundation and I am planning on making this a yearly event. I actually already have the lineup picked out for 2017 already. 2017 will include the hottest Elvis Tribute Artist in the biz right now - Dean Z. If you are an Elvis fan, you need to take in a Dean Z show. This guy is incredible. He has an electric early Elvis tribute and, as good as it is, I like his Buddy Holly tribute even more. He also teams up with another guy to do the Everly Brothers and he does a great Michael Jackson as well. Dean is just phenomenal. I will post some links below to all of the artists below and you can search them on YouTube to see more (if you only watch one video below, watch the Dean Z - Buddy Holly video - the best tribute performance you will ever see). Anyway, shoot me a PM if you want to attend or need more info. Happy New Year to everyone!
2016 Lineup:
Jesse Aron does an incredible Roy Orbison tribute. He probably has the best voice of any tribute artist I have ever heard:
